How you make an impact and the thrill of the chase…

As the Business Development Associate you are a core member of the Root Sales team, playing a key role in the development and ownership of a market-specific marketing and campaign strategy as well as overarching support and collaboration with Sales Leadership to help grow the business.

You will use your creativity, perseverance, and influence to create business opportunities by identifying, qualifying, and engaging with C-level and senior management prospects. Your natural curiosity of business and industry trends, mastery of company research, and evaluating a prospect’s position and challenges in the marketplace will open doors and help business leaders understand the unique value proposition of Root’s proven change and transformation methodologies and solutions.

You are the tip of the spear and here’s how you go to battle…

  • Conducting outbound prospecting to generate leads and warm lead follow up
  • Smashing targets by cold calling, prospecting, and cultivating relationships
  • Building awareness and expressing the value of Root’s solutions with prospective clients
  • Partnering with senior sales leader(s) to set up meetings with new prospects
  • Collaborating on the development of marketing materials and client presentations
  • Being the go-to person at all phases of the sales cycle (i.e., sales strategy and implementation, attending first pitch meetings, documentation, and data entry; providing materials for follow-ups, etc.)
  • Learning and comprehensively understanding our solutions to probe for potential problems we can solve and communicate our value proposition
  • Utilizing, producing, and maintaining the marketplace, client, and sales data and reports that informs our decisions and fuels our growth
  • Partnering with sales leader(s) to tailor plans for sales territories with the goal of supporting their monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue targets

What makes you so darn special…

  • 1-3 years of B2B/professional services/solutions sales, business development, business consulting and/or account management experience
  • Broad-based knowledge of the sales process from lead generation to relationship management
  • Intellectual curiosity – a genuine desire to understand a prospective client’s industry, issues, or goals and how Root can make them successful
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations, marketing, or related field

Location: Position will temporarily be remote due to COVID-19 but will be eventually based out of Root’s office in Chicago, Illinois
