Grant Thornton hires Claudia Douglass as healthcare industry growth leader

Grant Thornton, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has hired Claudia Douglass as a principal and growth leader for the healthcare industry practice.

Based in Charlotte, NC, Douglass brings more than 30 years of industry and consulting experience in healthcare strategy and operations. In her new role, she will help healthcare clients transform via enhanced and new offerings across Grant Thornton’s service lines and geographic markets.

“From growth and finance to infrastructure, workforce and technology, the healthcare industry is facing unique challenges, while also entering a new age of possibilities,” said Lisa Walkush, Grant Thornton’s national managing principal of Industry. “Claudia understands this and has the proven experience to help our clients succeed in a dynamic market that requires transformative thinking. Not only will she help our clients grow and achieve their strategic priorities, but she will also help expand our firm’s healthcare industry practice.”

Douglass joins Grant Thornton from PwC, where she spent four years as a principal and global/US co-leader for hybrid care and digital health. Before that, she spent three years as Deloitte, where she was a managing director in the advisory healthcare and health plan practice, leading strategic risk offerings.

Earlier in her career, Douglass was VP for strategic services at Carolinas HealthCare System, SVP and COO at Piedmont Medical Center, and regional director of business development at Tenet Healthcare.

She also previously spent six years with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), where she was a manager in the healthcare consulting practice.

Douglass has a master’s degree in health services administration from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Miami.
