Wavestone, a Paris-based management and technology consulting firm, has acquired Aspirant Consulting, a Pittsburgh-based management and technology consulting firm.

Founded in 2003, Aspirant provides consulting across strategy & transformation, mergers & acquisitions, project leadership, organizational effectiveness, marketing, and app development. The firm had annual revenue of $30 million at the time of its 2021 acquisition of Newton Talent, a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) firm.

The Wavestone transaction does not include its RPO division.

The deal will expand Wavestone’s US operations with a team of approximately 100 professionals. The French consultancy said in a press release that the US is a priority market in its international development strategy.

“Our discussions in the last months have confirmed a strong cultural fit at all levels and we were impressed by Aspirant Consulting’s track-record and their ability to develop long-lasting footprint within very large enterprises,” said Pascal Imbert, Wavestone’s CEO. “All combined with the quality of the leadership team will enable us to build sound foundations in the US, the world’s leading consulting market.”

Wavestone expanded into the US with the 2019 acquisition of WGroup, a Philadelphia-based consultancy specializing in IT strategy, cost optimization, and operational improvement advisory. The firm further expanded its US operations by acquiring Dallas-based Everest Group’s consulting practice in 2021.

As of 2023, Wavestone had a US team of over 100 people across offices in New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Dallas.

“From 2018-2023, Aspirant Consulting has more than doubled in size, driven by our terrific consultants and outstanding commitment to our clients," said Mike McClaine, CEO of Aspirant Consulting. “Joining forces with Wavestone gives us the opportunity to take advantage of synergies and deliver even more value for our clients on a much larger scale.”

Wavestone last year completed the acquisition of Q_Perior, a 1,400-person consulting firm with a strong presence in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The deal brought Wavestone’s headcount to 5,500 across Europe, Africa, Asia, and North America.

The consultancy provides services in IT strategy, operating model design, supply chain, Industry 4.0, finance and performance, data and analytics, customer experience, cybersecurity, and sustainability.
