Bain & Company has appointed Kurt Grichel as head of its Americas retail practice, Daniel (Danny) Hong as head of its Americas communications, media & entertainment (CME) practice, and Mikaela Boyd as head of its Americas financial services practice.

Based in Seattle, Grichel has been at Bain for 18 years, advising large clients across grocery, mass retail, and specialty retail. In his new role, Grichel will partner closely with retail clients and oversee business development and management of the practice’s team and executive network.

Bain’s Americas retail practice has nearly doubled in size over the last seven years, and serves clients across North, Central, and South America.

“Kurt is passionate about retail and comes to the role with an array of fantastic client results, deep expertise across the retail industry, connectivity with our broader team, and extraordinary energy to lead our practice to new heights in the next few years,” said Marc-André Kamel, leader of Bain & Company’s global retail practice.

Before joining Bain in 2006, Grichel was a VP at JPMorgan Chase. He has an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BBA from Western Washington University.
