Grant Thornton, a mid-market accounting and consulting firm, has appointed Brandon Young as market managing principal for Oklahoma City and Bill Marx as marketing managing principal for Washington, DC.

Young and Marx will drive the firm’s growth and service delivery in their respective markets.

Young has over 25 years of professional services experience, including nearly two decades in Grant Thornton’s Oklahoma City office. Young is a tax principal who has depth of expertise supporting high-wealth family groups in retail and technology.

He most recently served as private wealth services tax leader in Grant Thornton’s Central region.

Before joining the firm in 2005, Young spent six years at KPMG, where he was latterly a manager.

He has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from Oklahoma State University.

“Brandon and I have been teammates for nearly 20 years, and time and again, I’ve been impressed by both his constantly-growing knowledge and the way he takes care of the people around him,” said Nichole Jordan, managing principal of the firm’s Texoma region. “He sets a powerful example by developing genuine relationships with his teammates and clients, and that inspires our people to follow his lead.”

Marx has over 25 years of professional services experience, including over a decade as a tax principal at Grant Thornton. He has extensive experience working with finance and tax leaders at manufacturing, life science, financial services, and asset management firms on tax planning, cash-flow optimization, and M&A.

Before joining Grant Thornton in 2001, Marx was a managing director in the tax services practice of Smart Business Advisory and Consulting, a director of tax at InfraSource, and a supervisor in Comcast’s federal tax department.

He began his career at PwC, where he was latterly a manager.

Marx has a bachelor’s degree in accounting and education from Penn State University and a master’s degree in taxation from the University of Tulsa.

“Bill has a long track record of providing valuable guidance to public and private companies, and his extensive knowledge will be an asset to our people and clients in the DC area,” said Jim Wittmer, Grant Thornton’s managing principal for the Atlantic Coast region. “He’s the right leader at the right time, particularly as we bring our distinctive, personalized service to publicly-traded and private-sector clients, including many of the nation’s top government contractors.”

Grant Thornton also this month announced the appointment of new leaders for its retail and manufacturing practices.
