Pearl Meyer, a Boston-headquartered executive compensation and leadership consulting firm, has promoted Matt Turner to president of executive compensation consulting.

Based in Chicago, Turner will lead the firm’s executive and broad-based compensation consulting practices. He will also continue to serve clients as a compensation expert.

Turner succeeds Pete Lupo, who is retiring from Pearl Meyer at the end of the year.

Turner has been at the firm since 2007, most recently serving as a managing director. He has 30+ years of industry experience with a focus on executive compensation strategy, incentive plan design, tailoring of performance measures, and setting shareholder-focused performance targets.

Prior to his tenure at Pearl Meyer, Turner was a principal at Mercer and SCA Consulting.

He has an MBA from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

"As the board's responsibility for executive compensation has expanded to include leadership development, succession planning, and many other aspects of talent management, Matt has been instrumental in helping clients understand and meet the ever-evolving board purview. I know his ability to manage and take advantage of change will help us continue the great work that Pete has done to lead and execute our own strategy for growth," said Beth Florin, CEO of Pearl Meyer.

Turner added, “I appreciate the opportunity to more formally guide and mentor the best in the industry, and anticipate this challenge will give me new insight and energy that I look forward to sharing with my clients."

Pearl Meyer was founded in 1989 and has over 150 professionals across eight US offices. The firm specializes in advising boards and senior management on building, developing, and rewarding high-performance leadership teams.

Pearl Meyer has offerings across executive, director, and employee compensation; leadership excellence, board effectiveness, and CEO and executive succession; and industry and lifecycle services spanning M&A, private equity, healthcare, life sciences, banking, and real estate.

The firm earlier this year acquired Blake Street Group, a Boston-based boutique leadership consulting firm.
