Ceren Canal Aruoba joins BRG as co-lead of new consumer protection practice

Ceren Canal Aruoba has joined Berkeley Research Group (BRG) as a managing director and co-lead of the newly formed consumer protection, product liability, and environment practice. She is based in Washington, DC.
Canal Aruoba joins managing director Kristina Shampanier and director Gina Waterfield as co-leaders of the new practice, which will focus on consumer protection and product liability matters, such as class certification defense across industries.
Canal Aruoba has 20 years of experience advising on business litigation matters in consumer fraud and product liability, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, and antitrust disputes.
She specializes in consumer protection and product liability disputes involving deceptive retail-pricing claims, false advertising, product misrepresentation, product defects and product labeling, and allegations of data breach.
Canal Aruoba has industry expertise across automotive, consumer goods, retail, education, pharmaceutical/healthcare, and technology.
She joins BRG from Cornerstone Research, where she spent the last decade and was a principal. Before that, she spent over eight years at Bates White Economic Consulting, where she was a manager.
Canal Aruoba has bachelor’s degrees in economics and systems engineering and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania.
“Ceren's impressive track record consulting on a wide range of high-profile consumer protection and product liability matters in court, mediation and arbitration makes her an invaluable addition to this burgeoning team," said David Sunding, vice chairman of BRG and leader of the firm's antitrust & competition practice. "We're excited to have her on board as the practice group's third co-leader—and look forward to further growth in the months and years to come."
Canal Aruoba added, “I'm thrilled to join this new practice at BRG, which has long been a leader in expert services and complex business disputes. I'm confident that working alongside such highly respected professionals as Gina and Kristina, who have complementary skills, will allow us to grow into a first-in-class practice at BRG."
BRG – which was recently acquired by TowerBrook Capital Partners – earlier this month welcomed Ai Deng as a managing director in Washington, DC.
