KPMG US makes three leadership appointments in asset management sector

KPMG US has appointed Yesenia Scheker-Izquierdo as national sector leader for asset management and business line leader for asset management and private equity, David Neuenhaus as tax sector leader for asset management, and Matt Giordano as audit sector leader and audit service line leader for asset management.

"Their deep industry knowledge and strong leadership will be instrumental in capitalizing on growth opportunities within these markets and meeting the evolving needs of our clients.”
Scheker-Izquierdo (New York) will succeed Greg Williams, who is retiring in the fall. In the role, she will oversee strategic direction and growth of the US asset management and private equity practice, which comprises more than 4,000 partners and professionals.
Scheker-Izquierdo has been at KPMG for 25 years and currently serves as office managing partner for New York. She previously was leader of the New York real estate tax practice and global tax industry leader for the building, construction, and real estate sector.
Scheker-Izquierdo has master’s and bachelor’s degrees in accounting from the University of Florida and is a certified public accountant.
Neuenhaus (New York) succeeds Kevin Valek, who is retiring in the fall. Neuenhaus has over 25 years of experience providing planning and structuring services to asset managers and institutional investors.
He has been at KPMG since 2011 and currently serves as partner-in-charge of the New York financial services business unit. Neuenhaus previously was deputy lead for US asset management – tax and US lead for Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act and inbound tax.
He has a JD from Rutgers University, an LLM from New York University, and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Buffalo State University.
Giordano (Boston) succeeds Troy Butts, who is retiring in the fall. Giordano has over 20 years of experience in the investment management industry.
He has been at KPMG for 17 years and currently serves as national leader for the public investment management practice. Before that, he was deputy leader of the practice.
Between 2012 and 2017, Giordano worked for the US SEC, where he served as assistant chief accountant and then chief accountant of the division of investment management.
He has a master’s degree in accounting from Boston College and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from UMass Amherst.
