BCG X launches AI Science Institute

BCG X, the tech, build, and design division of Boston Consulting Group (BCG), last week announced the launch of its new AI Science Institute.
The institute will serve as a hub to apply the power of artificial intelligence to scientific research, discovery, and innovation. It will bring together BCG X’s 3,000-person team – including 200+ PhDs – in collaboration with top research and development (R&D) teams across governments and industries.
BCG says AI can help slash science and engineering R&D timelines from years to months.
“AI is at an inflection point. The mission of the BCG X AI Science Institute is to deliver groundbreaking scientific and engineering research powered by AI. Our experts will equip companies with leading-edge AI capabilities and research-based solutions to deliver tangible business impact,” said Christoph Schweizer, CEO of BCG.
The AI Science Institute is led by Adi Zolotov, PhD, and Leonid Zhukov, PhD.
The institute will drive AI-powered scientific innovation in areas such as drug discovery, climate modeling, air traffic, and advanced materials and design. It will partner with R&D leaders to uncover the most valuable AI applications, validate and scale solutions, and operationalize AI for impact.
“To build high-performing AI solutions for leading organizations, our team needs to build on the latest research in scientific innovation. The outcomes benefit everyone. Companies gain a competitive advantage, and the scientific community reaps the benefits of innovation at a pace and scale previously unthinkable,” said Sylvain Duranton, global leader of BCG X.
