KCP Advisory Group buys HBM Management Associates

KCP Advisory Group, a Boston-based restructuring and financial advisory firm, has acquired HBM Management Associates, a New York-based provider of interim management services to the middle market.
HBM’s team comprises managing directors Harry Malinowski and Marc Ross. Malinowski founded the boutique firm in 2012 and has over 35 years of financial and operational management experience with middle market companies. He has provided short- to medium-term management as a chief restructuring officer, chief executive officer, chief operating officer, chief financial officer, financial advisor, trustee, and independent director.
Before founding HBM, Malinowski worked at two boutique turnaround firms and held management positions at major real estate developers and a Big Four accountancy.
Ross has over 25 years of experience as an advisor, bankruptcy and turnaround specialist, crisis manager, forensic accountant, and auditor. He has served in interim management roles as a CRO, CEO, CFO, and COO, among others.
Before HBM, Ross provided turnaround and crisis management services at boutique consulting firms and worked at several public accountancies, including a Big Four firm.
"We are excited to welcome HBM Management Associates into KCP Advisory," said Jacen Dinoff, CEO of KCP. "Their team brings an impressive track record of leadership in turnaround and crisis management, and their addition strengthens our commitment to delivering senior-level support and strategic insight during critical moments in our clients' business cycles."
KCP was founded in 2008 and provides financial advisory, corporate restructuring, and business performance improvement services to lender, investor, legal, and corporate stakeholders. The firm has a team of 16 people, according to its website.
KCP merged with Altman and Company, another boutique turnaround and restructuring firm, in 2024.
“We have worked with the KCP team on multiple cases over the years and recognize them as a valuable partner,” said Malinowski and Ross. “Consolidating our practice with the KCP team was the right decision for us. KCP has built a great team and we are proud to join our firms together.”
