Viktor Tsyrennikov, a PhD economist and consultant, has joined Charles River Associates’ financial economics practice as a vice president.

Based in Washington, DC, Tsyrennikov brings extensive expertise in financial markets, regulation, and analytics, as well as a proven track record of developing business-decision and risk-management systems.

He spent the last 10 years at IBM Promontory, a risk management and compliance consulting firm, where he was head of quantitative services and analytics. In the role, Tsyrennikov led a team advising large banks on Basel III reforms, stress testing, model risk, and AI use cases.

Before that, he spent a year as resident scholar at the IMF and seven years at Cornell University, where he was an assistant professor of economics.

Tsyrennikov has a PhD in economics from New York University, a master’s degree in economics from the Kyiv School of Economics, and a master’s degree in information systems management from the National University of Lviv in Ukraine.

“I am pleased to welcome Viktor to the CRA team,” said Paul Maleh, president and CEO. “He is an accomplished PhD economist and trusted advisor to financial institutions, with extensive experience in solving complex risk management and addressing regulatory challenges.”

CRA’s financial economics practice provides consulting and expert services in regulatory and litigation matters to financial institutions and law firms. The practice has domain expertise across fair lending compliance, credit risk, credit scoring, mortgage and home equity lending, automobile lending, credit card lending, and unsecured personal lending, among other areas.

CRA was founded in 1965 and went public in 2003. The Nasdaq-listed consultancy provides services in litigation, regulatory, financial, and management consulting.

CRA is headquartered in Boston and has more than 1,000 consultants across 20+ global offices.
