Charles River Associates (CRA), a Boston-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Kurt Strunk as a vice president in its energy practice in New York.

Strunk brings more than 30 years of experience advising on issues at the intersection of energy economics, government regulation, and finance. He has worked with utilities, investors, and regulatory bodies in North America on engagements in cost of capital, rate design, energy transition, and infrastructure planning, among other areas.

Strunk has provided expert testimony and written submissions on 150+ occasions for litigation, arbitration, and regulatory proceedings. He has also provided due diligence and valuation for M&A transactions in the oil and gas and power sectors.

Strunk joins CRA from NERA Economic Consulting, where he spent 31 years and was a senior managing director.

He has an MBA from INSEAD and a bachelor’s degree in economics from Vassar College.

“I am pleased to welcome Kurt to the CRA team,” said Paul Maleh, president and CEO. “His addition strengthens CRA’s ability to support clients navigating some of the most pressing challenges in today’s energy landscape and reflects our continued investment in top-tier talent to address the accelerating transformation of the energy sector.”

CRA was founded in 1965 and went public in 2003. The Nasdaq-listed consultancy provides services in litigation, regulatory, financial, and management consulting.

CRA is headquartered in Boston and has more than 1,000 consultants across 20+ global offices.

The firm earlier this month welcomed Viktor Tsyrennikov as vice president in its financial economics practice in Washington, DC.
