Grant Thornton US acquires Switzerland/Liechtenstein and Channel Islands member firms

The New Mountain Capital-backed Grant Thornton US has continued to expand its multinational accounting and consulting platform, announcing on Tuesday the acquisition of the Grant Thornton member firms for Switzerland/Liechtenstein and the Channel Islands (Guernsey and Jersey).
New Mountain in May 2024 acquired a majority stake of Grant Thornton US.
In January, the private equity firm bolted on Grant Thornton Ireland; in April added Grant Thornton UAE, Grant Thornton Luxembourg, and Grant Thornton (Cayman); and in May added Grant Thornton Netherlands.
All of the bolt-ons are from territories that rank highly on the Corporate Tax Haven Index: Ireland (9), UAE (17), Luxembourg (10), Cayman Islands (2), Netherlands (7), Switzerland (4), Liechtenstein (33), Guernsey (13), and Jersey (8).
Grant Thornton Switzerland/Liechtenstein has approximately 220 people and Grant Thornton in the Channel Islands has approximately 300 people.
The most recent additions bring Grant Thornton US’ headcount to 13,500 people across nearly 60 offices in the Americas and EMEA regions.
The expanded platform will remain part of the Grant Thornton International network of independent country member firms.
“We are very pleased to have our colleagues in the Channel Islands, Switzerland and Liechtenstein join our differentiated and expanding platform,” said Jim Peko, CEO of Grant Thornton Advisors. “We’re building the world’s most talented team — delivering seamless offerings through an expanded footprint. The result: an unparalleled client experience and unmatched quality.”
Andre Moura and Nikhil Devulapalli, managing directors at New Mountain Capital, added, “The addition of these two firms — both well-respected in their markets and renowned for their finance expertise — will continue to elevate Grant Thornton’s world-class and wide-reaching financial services offering.”
Grant Thornton US recently appointed Elliott Findlay as chief operating officer and Rick Surett as chief financial officer.
