Berkeley Research Group (BRG), an Emeryville, CA-headquartered management consulting firm, has hired Thanh Do, PhD, as a director in its construction practice in Los Angeles.

Do is a structural engineer, forensic investigator, and expert witness who specializes in root cause investigations, standard of care evaluations, and construction and design defect analyses. He has expertise across a range of structures, including base-isolated buildings, aerial guideways and bridges, below-grade station buildings, support-of-excavation systems, marine structures, tunnels, and refineries.

In addition to his forensic work, Do has experience designing new buildings and seismic retrofits of existing structures.

He joins BRG from structural engineering consultancy Thornton Tomasetti, where he spent seven years and was a senior associate.

Do has a PhD and MS in structural engineering from the University of California, Berkeley. He is also a professional engineer.

“Tariff-driven price uncertainty of raw materials is increasing the risk of litigation throughout the design and construction phases of projects around the world,” said Dara Hendrix, a managing director in BRG’s construction practice. “Thanh’s ability to effectively advise on these disputes, shaped by his impressive engineering and investigative backgrounds, is essential for clients navigating these challenging times.”

Do added, “BRG’s Global Construction practice combines deep industry knowledge with first-rate technical expertise. I look forward to collaborating with this stellar team and leveraging the firm’s resources to better serve my clients in high-stakes disputes.”

BRG was founded in 2010 and has 1,600+ employees across 40+ global offices. The firm provides expert and consulting services in disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and performance improvement.

BRG earlier this year added Robert Mills as a managing director and Frank Stabile as a director in its intellectual property practice in Los Angeles.
