E Source hires Norv Clontz, launches data strategy and innovation practice
E Source, a Boulder, CO-headquartered research and consulting firm focusing on the utilities industry, has hired Norv Clontz as vice president of its new data strategy and innovation practice.
Clontz is based in Charlotte, NC and has nearly 20 years of experience in data science, analytics, and digital transformation in the energy and technology sectors.
In his new role, Clontz will guide the strategic direction of the data strategy and innovation practice, supporting utility clients with building a data foundation to enable advanced technologies such as AI. He will also work with clients on designing and implementing solutions across areas such as grid modernization, customer engagement, and energy equity.

Clontz joins from AES US Utilities, where he spent the last year as director for data science and analytics. Before that, he spent eight years with Duke Energy, where he was director for data science innovation and director for grid analytics.
Earlier in his career, he spent seven years with consulting firm Perficient, where he was practice leader and senior solution architect for business analytics.
Clontz has an MBA from the University of South Carolina and a bachelor’s degree from John Hopkins University.

The firm provides research, data science, and consulting services for areas including grid optimization, batteries, electrification, and energy equity.
E Source’s consulting practice focuses on enterprise performance management, smart operations, customer engagement, and water loss.
