Grant Thornton US acquires BPO firm Auxis, hires private equity practice leader

Grant Thornton US has agreed to acquire Auxis, a Fort Lauderdale, FL-based business process outsourcing (BPO) firm. The mid-market accounting and consulting firm also announced the hiring of Marc Chase as leader of its private equity practice.

Auxis was founded in 1997 and provides nearshore outsourcing services for finance, IT, HR, customer service, and specialized industry solutions. The firm works with Fortune 1000 and upper-middle-market firms in healthcare, financial services, retail, restaurants, and consumer packaged goods.

Auxis has over 1,400 people primarily located in Costa Rica and Colombia, with additional hubs in Mexico and Guatemala.

The Auxis acquisition is expected to close later this year.

Raul Vega, CEO of Auxis, will join the leadership team for advisory services at Grant Thornton. The Auxis team will join Grant Thornton Advisors LLC, which offers services across strategy, operations, and transformation.

“Bringing Auxis into the Grant Thornton platform is a milestone moment for us,” said Jim Peko, CEO of Grant Thornton Advisors LLC. “Auxis’ proven shared services, nearshoring expertise and tech-enabled solutions are a natural fit for our world-class model. This deal allows us to deepen client engagement and enhance our offerings — delivered with speed, scalability and quality.”

The acquisition arrives amid the private-equity-backed expansion of Grant Thornton US’ multinational platform.

New Mountain Capital in May 2024 acquired a majority stake in Grant Thornton US.

So far in 2025, the New York-based private equity firm has bolted on the Grant Thornton member firms for Ireland, the UAE, Luxembourg, Cayman Islands, Netherlands, Switzerland/Liechtenstein, and the Channel Islands.

Grant Thornton US, which operates in an alternative practice structure that separates its audit and advisory businesses, currently has approximately 13,000 people across the Americas and EMEA regions.

New private equity head

Based in New York, Marc Chase brings more than 25 years of experience in the private equity space. He will now oversee the growth, strategy, and operations of Grant Thornton’s private equity practice.

Chase was previously managing partner at Sterling Bridge Investment Partners, head of the private equity practice at Baker Tilly US, and head of the private equity practice at RSM US. Earlier in his career, he was an assistant director at EY US.

Chase has an MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas and a bachelor’s degree in finance from St. John Fisher University.

“Grant Thornton is rapidly becoming the platform of choice for private equity firms and top-tier talent alike — driven by our relentless focus on quality, culture and delivering distinctive value to clients,” said Elliot Findlay, chief operating officer of Grant Thornton Advisors LLC. “Marc brings a rare combination of strategic insight, operational expertise, and deep industry relationships. His leadership will be instrumental in helping our private equity clients navigate complexity, unlock growth and achieve lasting success.”
