Matt DeFrain rejoins MorganFranklin Cyber to head healthcare and life sciences

Matt DeFrain has rejoined MorganFranklin Cyber, a Charlotte, NC-based cybersecurity consulting and managed services firm, as managing director of the healthcare, pharma, and life sciences sector.

Based in Portland, OR, DeFrain returns to MorganFranklin after one year as a managing director in the cyber risk and resilience practice of BDO USA. Before that, he spent three-and-a-half years at MorganFranklin, serving as leader of the cyber operational and resilience practice, where he helped build customized client programs for resilience to various threats.

Earlier in his career, DeFrain spent 17 years with Deloitte, where he was a managing director in the operational resilience and crisis management practice. He also spent five years with KPMG, where he was a director in the cybersecurity and business resilience practice.

DeFrain has a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and numerous cybersecurity-related certifications.

Private equity firm MC Partners earlier this year acquired MorganFranklin Cyber from Vaco, a Nashville-based HR and management consulting firm.

MorganFranklin has 130+ employees listed on LinkedIn and offices in the US, Czechia, and India. The firm has practices in architecture and engineering, cyber and operational resilience, cyber strategy, identity and access management, governance and compliance, and AI.

MorganFranklin earlier this summer promoted Nick Stallone to head of strategy & planning and chief of staff and Ferdinand Hamada to head of sectors and chief revenue officer.
