HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm, has hired Kasra Ghahremani, PhD, and Javier Arniella as directors in its forensic engineering, architectural & scientific and construction, claims & expert services practices, respectively.

Based in Houston, Ghahremani brings over 17 years of experience in structural engineering with a focus on condition and risk assessment, structural health monitoring, and forensic failure investigations.

A licensed professional engineer, Ghahremani has delivered expert analysis and investigative support for structural failure, damages, service issues, construction defects, cost overruns, and delays associated with design and construction modifications.

In his postdoctoral fellowship, Ghahremani developed a methodology for vision-based structural damage detection using advanced 3D imaging techniques.

Ghahremani joins HKA from Rimkus, where he was a principal consultant. Before that, he was a managing engineer at Exponent and a project manager at Walter P Moore.

Ghahremani has a PhD, master’s degree, and bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Waterloo in Canada.

“Kasra has a unique combination of advanced structural engineering expertise and practical field experience that strengthens our ability to support clients facing complex technical challenges. His background in fatigue analysis and forensic investigations makes him an invaluable addition to our team,” said Michael Griffin, partner and head of forensic technical services, Americas.

Based in Washington, DC, Arniella has over a decade of experience as a forensic schedule expert and delay analyst. He specializes in identifying the root causes of delays, disruptions, and productivity loss for major capital projects.

Arniella is a licensed professional engineer who has provided claims analysis for port facilities, highways, commercial buildings, and renewable energy projects.

He previously was a senior director at Ankura and a senior consultant at Navigant.

Arniella has a master’s degree in construction management and engineering, a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in land surveying and topography from the University of Puerto Rico.

“We’re excited to welcome Javier to HKA. His unique skills, abilities, and depth of knowledge in construction scheduling and civil engineering bring valuable insight to our growing team,” said Wayne DeFlaminis, partner.

HKA has more than 1,100 people across 45 offices in 17 countries. The firm supports construction and energy sector clients with services in risk mitigation, dispute resolution, expert witness, and litigation support.
