Nicole Michaels joins Slalom as global insurance leader

Nicole Michaels has joined Slalom, a Seattle-headquartered management and technology consulting firm, as global leader of the insurance industry practice.

Based in the Greater Minneapolis-St. Paul area, Michaels brings more than 30 years of leadership experience in the insurance industry – with deep expertise leading business and technology transformation across global organizations.

At Slalom, Michaels will lead a team that helps clients shape strategies, modernize operations, and drive growth across the insurance ecosystem – including property and casualty (P&C), commercial and specialty, personal lines, life, annuity, retirement, and employee benefits.

“Our customers in the insurance industry are navigating an incredibly complex wave of change, from AI integration to shifting risk profiles, and they want to work with leaders who have indisputable experience in solving tough problems,” said Channie Mize, global industry leader at Slalom. “Nicole knows how to turn big strategies into real, operational execution, and her results-based leadership will help our customers and teams accomplish their goals.”

Michaels previously spent more than 12 years at EY, where she was a principal and global business transformation leader for P&C and life insurance. Before that, she spent 18 years at Accenture, rising from analyst to senior executive.

Michaels has a bachelor’s degree in management information systems and finance from Marquette University. She is a board director at the West Bend Insurance Company and member of the board of trustees at Marquette University and the National MS Society.

“Insurers are at a pivotal moment and rethinking how they grow, modernize, serve customers, and build organizations ready for what comes next,” said Michaels. “I look forward to partnering with our teams and customers to create practical, lasting value across the insurance ecosystem.”

Slalom has more than 10,000 employees across 54 offices in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. The consultancy has practices in strategy, operations, organization, experience and design, cloud, digital products, AI, data, and security.
