BPM appoints Nick Steiner as chief executive officer

BPM, a San Francisco-based accounting and consulting firm, has appointed Nick Steiner as chief executive officer.

Steiner succeeds Jim Wallace, who in March announced his retirement from the firm. Wallace led BPM from 2015 to 2026, growing the company from 300 people and $69 million in revenue to nearly 1,300 people and $254 million in revenue.

Steiner has 25 years of professional services experience, and has been with BPM since 2006. As a longtime partner in assurance and advisory, Steiner has supported companies on initial public offerings, business combinations, financing arrangements, and complex SEC reporting and compliance matters.

“Nick is the right leader for BPM’s next chapter,” said Sandy Murray, chairman of BPM. “He brings deep institutional knowledge, a proven record of growth, and a genuine commitment to our people and clients.”

Steiner most recently served as the firm’s chief growth partner, and before that led the advisory practice group – growing the practice from under $10 million in revenue to nearly $100 million. He also previously co-led the technology industry group.

Before his two-decade tenure at BPM, Steiner was an assurance manager at EY.

He has a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s degree in finance from Santa Clara University, and is a certified public accountant and chartered global management accountant.

“Our people and our culture have always been at the heart of what makes BPM special. At the same time, we have a long history of embracing new ideas and technology when they can help us serve our clients and strengthen our business,” Steiner said. “I believe our opportunity is to bring those strengths together even more effectively – combining the best of our culture with the best of what technology and new ideas can offer – and build an even stronger BPM for the future.”

BPM is the 32nd-largest accounting and consulting firm in the United States, according to Inside Public Accounting.
