FTI Consulting adds Rodolfo Araujo as senior managing director in Washington, DC
Global advisory firm FTI Consulting has hired Rodolfo Araujo as a senior managing director within the firm’s strategic communications segment. Araujo is a leading expert in corporate governance, proxy contests, and high-profile mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
In his new role, Araujo will lead the Americas corporate governance and activism offering within the strategic communications segment, while also serving as a member of FTI’s activism and M&A solutions practice. Based out of DC, he will report to Brian Kennedy, head of strategic communications for the Americas.
Araujo will support corporate clients during the many transformational events and issues they face in an increasingly complex and interconnected environment. He will help firms manage scrutiny around environmental, social, and governance practices, while also helping them navigate proxy contests and transactions in hostile or highly regulated environments. He joins FTI’s global team of more than 200 financial communications specialists.
A Chartered Financial Analyst, Araujo brings nearly a decade of experience analyzing equity markets. Prior to joining FTI, he was a vice president at Institutional Shareholder Solutions (ISS), where he provided analysis and recommendations on proxy fights for board seats for high-profile clients such as Procter & Gamble, GM, and Buffalo Wild Wings. He also advised on contested M&A transactions and hostile takeovers, working on Broadcom/Qualcomm, Rite Aid/Albertsons, and PrivateBancorp/CIBC.
“The drivers behind shareholder activism are changing rapidly, and as Vice President of ISS’s Special Situations Research Group, Rodolfo gained a unique perspective informed by some of the most complex mergers and fiercest proxy fights in recent memory,” Mark McCall, global segment leader of strategic communications at FTI said.
Before ISS, Araujo was a research analyst at global asset manager Sands Capital, where he performed in-depth research in the consumer, financial services, life sciences, and industrials sectors. Prior to Sands Capital, he was an investment analyst at Latin America-focused equity hedge fund Inca Investments.
Araujo also founded and led a marketing service agency in Brazil, growing the business to 120 employees and serving international clients including Wal-Mart, Diageo, and Vivo. He started his career as an account supervisor at one of Brazil’s foremost advertising agencies.
“Through my experience, I have a strong perspective on the demands of today’s shareholders, and the impact that a variety of governance practices can have on a company’s valuation and long-term success,” Araujo said. “I know that FTI Consulting’s global platform, multidisciplinary offering and diverse client base will give me a unique opportunity to share that experience with companies across a number of industries, and I look forward to collaborating with my new colleagues to help our clients address the evolving corporate governance landscape.”
