BKD announces Shauna Woody-Coussens as PSAS national leader

Shauna Woody-Coussens will become national leader of tax and consulting firm BKD CPAs & Advisors’s public sector advisory services (PSAS) division. Her appointment was made official by BKD managing partner Angela Morelock.

Woody-Coussens carries more than 30 years of experience. She specializes in several management consulting sectors, and has led key governmental and public services projects. In her new role, Woody-Coussens will be responsible for expanding the firm’s consulting services to current clients, as well as driving BKD’s progress as it continues to push into the federal marketplace.

“It’s an honor to be selected as the national leader for PSAS. I’m excited to work closely with our trusted advisors to continue providing consulting services and solutions to clients across federal, state and local and tribal governments,” Woody-Coussens said. 

Woody-Coussens previously served as a managing director in BKD’s forensics and valuation services arm. There, she was tasked with creating fraud risk assessments, internal control evaluations, and forensic accounting consulting to clients predominantly in the public sector. She also took on reactive fraud investigations. Additionally, Woody-Coussens has worked on cases involving the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, as well as anti-bribery and corruption investigations. Her career has also required her at times to testify before the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the U.S. Department of Justice.

Prior to joining BKD, Woody-Coussens worked as a senior manager at Deloitte and a managing director at Grant Thornton LLP. In both of these roles, she focused on economic damage calculation, forensic accounting investigations, and business valuation. She holds a bachelor of science in business administration, finance and banking from the University of Missouri-Columbia, as well as an MBA in finance and banking from the University of Kansas.
