Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, a Chicago-based accounting and consulting firm, has added Garth Carter as a managing director in its strategic cloud services consulting practice. Carter brings more than two decades of Oracle consulting experience to the role.
Baker Tilly’s strategic cloud services consulting practice helps organizations improve their performance by modernizing and optimizing their processes and technology. The firm helps clients across a wide range of industries plan and implement cloud transformations, leveraging Oracle cloud platforms across human capital management, enterprise performance management, enterprise resource management, customer experience, and analytics.
Oracle has a 3.1% share of the global cloud infrastructure-as-a-service (Iaas) market and a 3.9% share of the cloud software-as-a-service (SaaS) market, according to figures from Statista. Cloud IaaS is dominated by Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure, while the leading cloud SaaS players include Salesforce, Microsoft, and SAP.
The mid-market consulting firm has bolstered its cloud practice with the addition of Oracle expert Garth Carter. During his career, Carter has helped numerous multinational corporations, public sector, higher education, and healthcare clients replace outdated technologies with Oracle cloud applications – enabling more effective management and analysis of their operations.
Carter joins Baker Tilly’s Chicago office from Hitachi Consulting, where he spent three years as North America Oracle sales and practice leader. Before that, he spent 21 years at IT consulting firm Ciber, where he was latterly the vice president of the firm’s Oracle practice. During his time at Ciber, he was instrumental in establishing the firm’s Oracle higher education, public sector, and healthcare business.
Earlier in his career, Carter was an account executive at ERP software firm Ross Systems, and an account manager at HR software and services firm Ceridian. He holds a BS in business from Purdue University.
“We’re excited to have Garth bring his extensive experience in technology consulting to Baker Tilly,” Ann Blakely, principal and leader of the Baker Tilly’s strategic cloud services practice, said. “His deep knowledge of technology solutions and skill in developing strategies are tremendous assets as we focus on creating solutions that enhance the functionality and capability of our clients’ cloud platforms.”
