Grant Thornton LLP, a leading mid-market-focused accounting and consulting firm, has entered a strategic alliance with Gens & Associates, a boutique life sciences consulting and benchmarking firm based in Washington Crossing, PA.

Together the two firms will work together to advance regulatory compliance, innovation, and transformation initiatives for life sciences organizations.

Founded in 2005, Gens & Associates delivers consulting in strategy and operations, change management, benchmarking, and regulatory information management (RIM) research to life sciences clients. The firm’s biennial RIM Benchmark provides the industry’s most comprehensive regulatory benchmarking survey, including a survey of more than 100 global pharma, medical device, consumer and generic drug companies. Industry clients use the research to understand which practices translate to strong regulatory operational performance.

Earlier this year, Gens rolled out its Benchmark Premier program, expanding the research platform while providing additional customized, actionable guidance. The Premier program offers additional services such as on-site annual private working sessions on regulatory roadmaps and interim research on hot topics.

Grant Thornton joins the Benchmark Premier program as part of the strategic alliance. The firms will work to tackle client issues around regulatory cost pressure, compliance, and time-to-market for medication and devices.

“As the industry evolves, life sciences organizations are recognizing the importance of RIM as an enterprise capability that affects compliance, productivity and time to market,” said John Cassimatis, managing director and business consulting life sciences leader for Grant Thornton.

“Gens & Associates provides those RIM insights – and Grant Thornton brings industry and regulatory management consulting experience. This powerful combination will help organizations transform their regulatory operations and accelerate the benefits realization of their regulatory change initiatives.”

The alliance expands Grant Thornton’s reach and offerings for life sciences clients; for Gens, the arrangement adds new prospective survey participants and enhanced sector experience and capabilities.

“Our mission is to help all stakeholders in the regulatory ecosystem improve their performance through our research platform,” said Steve Gens, managing partner of Gens & Associates. “Our Benchmark Premier program and strategic alliance with Grant Thornton allow us to expand our benchmarking capability and assist more organizations.”

Earlier this year, Grant Thornton partnered with Hitachi Solutions to work on predictive, enterprise risk-sensing solutions.
