A former Assistant US Attorney who prosecuted drug traffickers, terrorists, and corrupt public officials has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a Managing Director. The appointment comes as the global professional services firm unveiled three new MDs in its Healthcare advisory practice.

Robert J. Milan entered the private sector as an advisor with unusual professional experience. A former Assistant US Attorney for Illinois’ Northern District, he spent years combating organized and white collar crime in Chicago, overseeing hundreds of state attorneys and investigators. His prosecutions led to the conviction of dozens of murderers, corrupt officials, and money launderers.

Milan entered the private sector in a consulting capacity, advising corporate risk executives on forensic accounting, investigations, and litigation. He arrives at Alvarez & Marsal’s Disputes and Investigations practice from Kroll’s Chicago office, where he was Managing Director after a spell with Navigant Consulting. At Alvarez & Marsal he will lead global anti-corruption and corporate fraud investigations.

"Bob’s wealth of investigative knowledge and experience fits perfectly with A&M’s lines of business and enhances our offerings to global clients,” said Bryan Ruez, Managing Director and Global Leader of Alvarez & Marsal Disputes and Investigations. “Bob’s ability to uncover and solve complex and sophisticated fraud schemes will position him as a great source of knowledge, a subject matter expert, and a trusted partner for our clients.”

Doris Stein also worked at EY and Navigant, and has extensive experience advising on Medicaid and Medicare programmes which complement her strategic market planning expertise.

“These three talented professionals bring several decades of collective experience across a spectrum of healthcare clients, including international organizations, commercial and government health plans and innovative start-up companies,” said Martin McGahan, the Practice Leader of A&M’s Healthcare Industry Group. “We are excited to leverage their significant healthcare knowledge and experience to help our clients meet the industry’s evolving challenges and opportunities.”
