Grant Thornton adds valuation expert Richard Law
Accounting and consulting firm Grant Thornton has welcomed Richard Law as a managing director in its corporate value consulting practice. He will remain based in New York City.
Law will use his more than 25 years of valuation experience to help Grant Thornton's clients speed and enhance their transaction processes.
Law has performed numerous valuations of public and private businesses, as well as of intangible assets such as contracts, patents, computer software, and customer relationships. He has also valuated financial assets such as inventory. His work has supported efforts in mergers and acquisitions, purchase price allocations, tax planning and reporting, litigation, and bankruptcy.
During his consulting career, Law has served domestic and international clients in a range of industries, including education, pharmaceuticals, retail, defense, and consumer products.

Grant Thornton’s corporate value consulting practice serves clients with offerings in board services & solutions, capital building, capital asset solutions, and fair value advisory & solutions.
Law joins Grant Thornton from Alvarez & Marsal, where he spent seven-and-a-half years and was a managing director in the valuation services practice. Before that, he spent a decade at valuation firm American Appraisal, where he was latterly the Northeast practice leader.
He began his career at Arthur Andersen, where he spent eight years and was a senior manager in the valuation practice. Law holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a BBA in finance from Seton Hall University.
