Accenture Federal Services to open tech center in St. Louis
Accenture Federal Services, the federal government-focused subsidiary of tech consulting giant Accenture, announced that it will open an Advanced Technology Center in St. Louis, Missouri later this year.
Located at 520 Maryville Centre Drive in St. Louis County, the Accenture Federal Services tech center will support federal agencies with digital, cloud, automation, AI, and cyber solutions. The center is expected to bring up to 1,400 new technology jobs to the region in the next five years.
Accenture Federal Services said it picked the site because of strategic regional insight, market analysis, and the relationships facilitated by AllianceSTL, an economic development organization which recruits businesses to the St. Louis region. The announcement is a big get for AllianceSTL, which was founded in 2019.
If Accenture meets its hiring targets, the firm will be eligible for up to $20.2 million in retained state withholding taxes, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The St. Louis Economic Development Partnership is further recommending an incentive package to offset $11.1 million in new equipment costs and $7.1 million for office renovations.
“The region’s skilled talent, vibrant technology ecosystem, and strong commitment to collaboration between government, civic, business, academic and community partners make St. Louis the ideal location for our new Advanced Technology Center,” John Goodman, the CEO of Accenture Federal Services said.
“We are thrilled to provide our people and new hires a great place to do work that matters by expanding our operations in this area.”
The St. Louis advanced technology center will collaborate with the firm's network of cyber and advanced tech centers, digital studios, and specialized centers which span locations in San Antonio, Niagara Falls, Washington, DC, and Chesapeake.
“The selection of St. Louis signifies Accenture’s continued confidence in the region as an optimal location to do business, and the addition of 1,400 new jobs will enrich our already-thriving technology climate,” said Steve Johnson, president and CEO of AllianceSTL.
It is unclear how many of the new jobs will be local hires and how many will be relocated from other offices. Parent company Accenture is one of the top ten companies in terms of volume of applications for H-1B visas, which primarily target high-skilled foreign technology workers.
The bulk of the Ireland-domiciled company’s half-million-person global workforce is located in India, where Accenture has massive technology delivery centers. The firm applied for 6,381 H1-B visas in 2019.
