Kotter, a consultancy specializing in strategy execution and change, has promoted Rod Walker to president of consulting. The Atlanta-based leader will also join the firm’s senior leadership team and management committee.

Kotter was founded in 2008 by John Kotter, a Harvard professor and prominent expert on leadership and change. With offices in Boston and Seattle, the consulting firm advises clients in a range of industries on growth plan realization, M&A integration, culture change, digital transformation, operational efficiency, and leadership development. Kotter focuses on helping organizations effectively activate their people, which can lead to increased Ebitda, speed-to-market, and sales effectiveness, among other benefits.

Rod Walker, who joined the firm in 2018 as a managing director, will now lead Kotter’s consulting business. In the role, Walker will oversee all consulting operations while acting as lead consultant for key clients. He will also focus on guiding the overall growth and profitability of the firm, which has a team of more than 40 professionals.

“With over 20 years of experience accelerating change and transformation for some of the world’s most high-profile organizations, Rod’s leadership and vision will be invaluable to helping our clients innovate, transform, and ultimately thrive in the face of lasting COVID-related disruption and the increasing pace of change,” said Rick Western, Kotter’s CEO.

As a managing director at Kotter, Walker led strategic client relationships, managed business development across the firm’s core capabilities, and advised on organizational change.

Before joining Kotter in 2018, Walker spent ten years at Consequent (formerly Brand Velocity), a boutique Atlanta business transformation consultancy, where he was latterly a senior vice president. At the firm, he advised clients on strategy and change, business and IT transformation, and strategy alignment and execution.

Walker was also previously a principal at North Highland and a senior manager at Deloitte Consulting. He holds an MBA from UNC-Chapel Hill, MS and BS degrees in computer science from Clark Atlanta University, and completed the general management program at Harvard Business School.

“In today’s environment, authentic and sustainable change is top-of-mind for every senior executive and C-suite team,” Walker said. “As organizations continue to navigate the coronavirus pandemic and economic-driven uncertainty, I am eager to play a strong leadership role in helping Kotter and its clients to pivot faster and shift their mindsets in a manner that is increasingly required for the pace of change in the 2020s.”
