Protiviti acquires identity access management firm Identropy
Consulting firm Protiviti has acquired Indentropy, an Austin-based consultancy specializing in identity and access management (IAM).
IAM refers to technology and processes that make sure the right users have access to the appropriate resources. With the rise of remote work and employees’ use of cloud, mobile, and personal devices, securely managing digital identities has become increasingly complex – and important. The Covid-19 pandemic and the resulting remote work shift has led to a rise in cyberattacks and threats across organizations.
Founded in 2006, Identropy offers vendor-agnostic advisory, implementation, and managed services in the area of IAM – helping clients achieve security, compliance, cost containment, and operational reliability. The Austin firm’s more than 40 professionals support clients in the energy, healthcare, financial services, retail, and pharmaceutical industries.
Protiviti’s acquisition of Identropy will help the Menlo Park, California-based management and technology consulting firm meet growing client demand for cybersecurity and IAM services.
“Identity has become the new technology perimeter for today's business technology solutions and digital transformation. Yet, IAM projects are often overly complex and mired in point solutions when a holistic platform solution would serve them better," said Ron Lefferts, managing director and global leader of technology consulting, Protiviti. "The combination of Identropy and Protiviti's extensive knowledge and expertise will help corporate security teams that are already stretched thin to simplify, fortify, and run their identity programs effectively."
The Identropy team, including co-founders Victor Barris and Ashraf Motiwala, will join Protiviti’s security and privacy practice. Barris and Motiwala bring a combined 40+ years of experience in identity consulting, security architecture, and information technology.
"Identropy has a strong reputation in the industry for successfully delivering identity solutions to its customers. Through this acquisition, we're excited to provide our customers with a stronger set of identity-centric cybersecurity services," Barris said.
Protiviti provides a wide range of management and technology services and solutions, with approximately 4,000 employees across 85 offices in 25+ countries.
The firm earlier this year launched Protiviti PraaS – a managed service privacy offering that helps companies assess their privacy needs, implement compliance programs, and respond to regulatory changes.
