Deloitte names Krista Smith emerging growth company practice leader for DC area

Deloitte has appointed Krista Smith, a 28-year veteran of the firm, as leader of the emerging growth company practice for the greater Washington, DC area.

In this new role, Smith will work with DC startups on scaling business models and operations, while helping them address challenges in regulation, capital, and financial reporting.

Smith, an audit & assurance managing director, has been working with emerging growth companies (EGCs) for many years. She has worked on numerous consulting engagements with EGC clients, and has been involved in Deloitte’s Greater Washington Technology Venture Center (TVC) and Technology Fast 500 program.

Smith started her career at Deloitte in 1992, and has advised public and private sector clients ranging from startups to large multinational corporations. She has extensive expertise in SEC reporting and technical accounting, and has assisted numerous clients on IPOs and private placements.

Smith has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Lehigh University and is a certified public accountant.
