FTI Consulting buys construction specialist The Rhodes Group
FTI Consulting has acquired The Rhodes Group, a Pittsburgh-based firm specializing in construction claims consulting.
Founded in 1999, The Rhodes Group provides construction claims consulting, expert testimony, and project alignment services to clients throughout the entire project lifecycle. The firm, which has offices in Pittsburgh and Houston, works with clients in the oil and gas, power, industrial, infrastructure, and commercial building sectors.
FTI Consulting’s acquisition of The Rhodes Group will add 40 professionals to its construction & environmental solutions practice within the forensic and litigation consulting segment. The transaction will bolster the global consulting firm’s capabilities in construction advisory, dispute resolution, and expert testimony in North America.
“Construction & Environmental Solutions is one of our strongest and fastest-growing practices globally, and the opportunity to add the industry-leading team from The Rhodes Group supports our ambition of serving leading law firms, contractors and owners as they navigate the most challenging construction-related disruption and disputes,” said Steven Gunby, president and CEO of FTI Consulting.
Founder and president Andrew Rhodes will join FTI as a senior managing director. Rhodes has advised on hundreds of projects and testified as an expert on 70 occasions in court and arbitration proceedings. He also has experience serving as a mediator and expert consultant to a dispute resolution board.
“We have longstanding relationships with many of our clients, and the global platform at FTI Consulting will only bolster our ability to serve that clientele and enhance FTI Consulting’s position as a leader in the construction consulting industry,” Rhodes said. “I am proud of what we built as a team at The Rhodes Group, and I am excited to continue our journey with the team at FTI Consulting.”
FTI is headquartered in Washington, DC and has more than 6,300 employees in 28 countries. The consultancy advises organizations on change, risk, and disputes.
The firm earlier this month added Jason Shafrin and Miriam Wrobel as senior managing directors.
