Andre Wright, an experienced administrator and educator, has joined the education solutions practice of MGT Consulting, a Tampa, FL-headquartered public sector management consultancy. He joins the firm’s Denver office as a senior vice president.

Wright will use his expertise in turning around struggling schools to support schools and school districts in Colorado and across the country. His consulting work will focus on Adams County School District 14, which serves Commerce City, just north of downtown Denver. The school district has more than 7,500 K-12 students.

Wright replaces Harry Bull, the 2017 Superintendent of the Year in Colorado, who is retiring after overseeing MGT’s work with Adams 14 since 2019. Over the last two years, Adams 14 has realized higher graduation rates, decreased dropout rates, and more opportunities for students learning English, according to a release from MGT.

Wright brings more than 20 years of experience in the education sector. He spent the last seven years at Aurora Public Schools, where he was latterly chief academic officer and oversaw several student achievement gains, including improved graduation rates and Colorado District Performance Framework scores.

Prior to that, he was an assistant principal in the Dekalb County School System and a middle school language arts teacher. Prior to entering the education field, Wright worked in financial services, serving as a branch manager and banking officer at BankSouth.

He holds a master of education in educational administration and supervision from Lincoln Memorial University and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Covenant College.

“Andre is a visionary leader with a thoughtful approach to education innovation, engagement, and culture,” Trey Traviesa, chairman and CEO of MGT Consulting Group, said. “He is exactly the right person to build on the progress in Adams 14 and position the district for long-term sustainability and ongoing student and family achievement.”

MGT’s education solutions practice supports K-12 and higher education clients with consulting services in large-scale turnaround, operations performance, strategic planning & implementation, academic program assessments & improvement plans, and facilities master planning. The practice’s consultants include former state education commissioners, district superintendents, school board members, principals, and teachers, as well as organizational transformation specialists.

“I know from my years of experience that turning around schools and district that have struggled for years is no easy feat, and there are no silver bullets, but I also know it is possible. Impactful learning is not just academic but is also culturally responsive and rooted in equitable approaches to wellness,” Wright said. “I look forward to working with students, families, and staff in Adams 14 and beyond.”

MGT supports educational clients and state and local governments with services in finance (including cost-of-service analysis and revenue recovery), organizational review and development, diversity, equity & inclusion (DEI), and cybersecurity. The firm has more than 200 employees across 14 offices nationwide.
