PA Consulting adds medtech expert Dean Gray as partner
PA Consulting, a global innovation and transformation consultancy, has welcomed Dean Gray, a Boston-based medtech and product innovation expert, as a partner in the firm’s health and life sciences practice.
Gray will work with PA’s clients in medtech and life sciences on delivering next-generation connected medical devices and end-to-end solutions.
Gray has more than 30 years of experience in life sciences and healthcare, having held senior consulting roles and numerous industry roles in strategy and operations. He has guided large firms and startups through the innovation process, developing and commercializing products across surgery, endoscopy, imaging, and AI-enabled analytics, among other areas.
“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Dean to our growing team,” George Botsakos, global lead for health and life sciences at PA Consulting, said. “His deep product development and innovation expertise across a range of therapeutic areas will be extremely helpful for our clients looking to bring ingenious device and diagnostic products to market.”
Gray joins PA from life sciences consultancy Technology Commercialization Group, where he spent the last four years as a partner. Before that, he spent three year as a principal at Appareo, where he co-led the consulting firm and advised medtech and diagnostic imaging companies on planning and go-to-market strategies.
Before that, he spent more than 25 years in the life sciences industry, including as VP and GM of Heidelberg Engineering’s neurology division, VP of global marketing for bio-orthopedics at Sanofi Genzyme, and VP of strategic planning for microvasive urology at Boston Scientific. Earlier in his career, Gray was GM of the surgical skin preparation business unit at medtech giant BD and regional business manager for Asia at American Cyanamid (now Pfizer).
He holds a master’s degree in international business from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Earlham College.
“This is a momentous time to be joining PA Consulting,” Gray said. “The company’s record growth, global reach, and wide array of capabilities and resources enable me to offer clients a full range of innovation and consulting services, bringing end-to-end innovation solutions to life and addressing some of healthcare’s greatest needs.”
Gray’s hiring follows the addition of several partners to PA’s US health and life sciences practice. The firm earlier this year welcomed product development experts Graham Myatt and Melanie Turieo, as well as digital health expert Vignesh Ramesh.
