Chuck Moritt and Don Harrington join Mercer's M&A team
Chuck Moritt and Don Harrington have joined as partners in the mergers and acquisitions practice of Mercer, a global human resources consulting and wealth management firm.
Mercer’s M&A practice helps organizations analyze and address workforce issues and people risks in transactions. The firm says 60% of deals fail because of workforce issues – making it a key element of the M&A process, from planning and due diligence through to post-close integration.
Moritt will focus on advising strategic and financial buyers and sellers on HR-related issues, while Harrington will focus on private equity clients.
Based in Washington, DC, Moritt brings more than 30 years of experience in the industry. He has deep expertise advising organizations across industries on strategic planning, workforce planning, M&A, employee engagement, and executive compensation and remuneration.
Moritt spent the first 29 years of his career at Mercer, starting as a pensions actuary and then eventually leading the firm’s North American multinational client group. He also previously led Mercer’s North American M&A business.He rejoins Mercer from EY, where he spent the last three years as a managing director in the firm’s people advisory services group.
Moritt holds a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of Maryland.
Based in New York, Don Harrington is a seasoned M&A advisor and attorney focusing on private equity transactions. He specializes in helping private equity firms and investment banks quantify the financial liabilities of US health and welfare benefit programs and financial obligations tied to retirement plans.
Harrington joins Mercer from Lockton, where he spent the last five years as an SVP and global director of the employee benefit transactional advisory practice. Before that, he spent eight years at Willis Towers Watson, where he was an SVP and North America employee benefit M&A leader. Harrington also previously spent seven years at Aon Consulting, where he was an SVP.
He holds a JD from New England Law and a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University.
