RSM US names Brian Becker as CEO-elect
RSM US has appointed Brian Becker, a more than 30-year veteran of the firm, as managing partner and chief executive officer, effective August 31, 2022.
Becker will succeed Joe Adams, who has led RSM US since 2011. During his tenure, Adams has nearly tripled the firm’s size to 14,000 people and approximately $3 billion in revenue. After August, he will remain with RSM US in an advisory capacity and complete his term on RSM International’s board of directors, which ends in March 2023.
“It has been an honor to lead RSM for the last 10 years,” Adams said. “I feel proud of all we have accomplished, and I am truly grateful to our outstanding clients, partners, and employees who have made the firm so successful. I am confident they will be in great hands as Brian takes over leadership of RSM in the future.”
Becker has served as RSM US’ national consulting leader since 2017, leading strategy, development, and execution of operating plans for more than 4,500 consultants spanning seven service lines. During his tenure, the practice has more than doubled its revenues from $450 million to $1 billion.
Before that, Becker served as technology consulting leader and Central region consulting leader, and also was on the RSM US board of directors from 2011 to 2015.
He joined the accounting and consulting firm as a staff accountant in 1989 before moving to consulting in 1995 to help launch the firm’s technology infrastructure service line.
Becker has a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Northern Iowa and is a certified public accountant.
“RSM has a robust succession planning program, and the board followed a thorough process to select Brian as the firm’s next Managing Partner & CEO,” said Jerry Martin, chair of the RSM US board of directors. “We are confident Brian will continue to help our clients, our employees, and our firm succeed, and we are grateful to Joe for his tremendous leadership and stewardship.”
Becker added, “I look forward to advancing, evolving, and supporting all the great work that is currently in process while simultaneously building on our competitive advantage.”
RSM US earlier this year acquired nonprofit sector IT specialists C Systems and Confluence Global, as well as the ServiceNow practice of Rego Consulting. The Chicago-based firm also in August promoted John Behringer to leader of its financial institutions sector.
