AlixPartners adds retail digital expert Ankur Desai as managing director
Consulting firm AlixPartners has welcomed Ankur Desai as a managing director in its retail digital practice in New York.
Desai brings nearly two decades of experience helping retail firms implement digital transformation programs. He has particular expertise helping luxury apparel, convenience, drug store, and omnichannel retailers drive top-line growth through advanced analytics that optimizes strategy, pricing, and marketing effectiveness.
Desai joins AlixPartners from BCG Gamma, the advanced analytics and data consulting unit of Boston Consulting Group, where he spent the last three years, latterly as a partner. Prior to that, he spent two years at Impetus Technologies, a software product and services firm focused on enterprise data awareness, integration, and advanced analytics. Desai served as a vice president leading strategic accounts in the telecom sector.Before that, Desai spent nearly fourteen years at Opera Solutions, a Jersey City-based provider of advanced analytics software solutions, where he was latterly a principal.
He holds a master’s degree in operations research from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Rochester.

Retailers are under intense pressure to digitalize their operations, provide seamless digital experiences, and attract and retain customers with data-driven personalized promotions and loyalty programs.
AlixPartners was recently enlisted by Macy’s to examine the retailer’s business structure and analyze the viability of spinning off its e-commerce business.
The New York-based consulting firm last month hired San Francisco-based cloud expert Sanjay Verma as a managing director in its digital practice.
