Two PA Consulting client projects in 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards
Two PA Consulting client projects were featured in Fast Company’s 2022 World Changing Ideas Awards.
The sixth annual awards showcase included 39 winners, 350 finalists, and 600+ honorable mentions across categories including climate, nature, water, social justice, workplace, and data and AI. The awards drew from approximately 3,000 global entries, with winners and finalists selected by a panel of Fast Company’s editors and reporters.
Green Boom, a startup that has developed a product to prevent, reduce, and clean up oil spills, was named a finalist in the nature category. The company’s 100% biodegradable solution uses fabric pillows and tubes filled with natural fiber biomass to repel water and rapidly absorb oil from spills. The patent-pending product can also be cleaned and reused.
PA Consulting worked with Green Boom on go-to-market and growth strategy to help the company build a targeted sales strategy and a path to sustainable success.
“Congratulations to the Green Boom team for such an amazing honor,” Seth Lively, US digital lead at PA Consulting, said. “We are so excited to have worked with this unique start-up to help get this world changing solution to the market and help ensure the company’s success.”
A collaboration between Cambridge University NHS Hospital and Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust to reduce plastic waste was included as an honorable mention in the health category.
PA worked with the hospital and its partners on a roadmap for England’s National Health Service to improve product design, waste management technologies, and practices. PA calculated an opportunity to prevent 16,500 tons of plastic waste, which extrapolated to a national scale could mean 85,000 tons of recycled material and a 235,000-ton reduction in CO2 emissions annually. That reduction would greatly aid the NHS’ plans to become the world’s first net-zero national health service.
“PA Consulting is extremely proud of our work with the Cambridge University NHS Hospitals and Mid and South Essex Foundation Trust and are honored to be on Fast Company’s World Changing Ideas list,” Mark Lancelott, sustainability expert at PA Consulting, said. “More hospitals need to be taking steps to embrace the circular economy and start their journey to net zero, and we look forward to helping them achieve their goals.”
