Michael Salve, PhD, has joined Berkeley Research Group’s (BRG) economics and damages practice as a managing director. He is based in New York.

Salve is an applied econometrician with experience in advanced quantitative methods, statistical studies, econometric modeling, microeconomics, industrial organization, False Claims Act matters, financial damages cases, and commercial disputes. He has deep expertise using econometric and statistical models to estimate exposure and potential damages and employing statistical software and data tools to reveal hidden data patterns for clients in insurance, banking, and healthcare.

He has provided statistics-based expert advice and testimony before courts and arbitration panels in matters pertaining to economic damages, liability, and class certification.

Salve joins BRG from rival firm FTI Consulting, where he spent the last seven years as a senior managing director and global leader of the applied data science practice. Before that, he spent six years at Alvarez & Marsal, where he was a managing director.

Salve has a doctorate in economics from Boston College, with concentrations in applied econometric and statistical techniques and industrial organization.

"We are delighted to welcome Michael to BRG," said Jeffery A. Stec, PhD, a leader of BRG's Intellectual Property practice and a co-leader of its Economics & Damages community. "He has an outstanding reputation, and his statistical expertise and knowledge of advanced quantitative methods will be an asset to our clients around the world."

BRG is headquartered in Emeryville, California and advises on disputes and investigations, corporate finance, and strategy and operations. The firm has more than 1,200 professionals across offices in the Americas, EMEA, and Asia-Pacific regions.

The consultancy earlier this year hired Clay Willis as a Washington, DC-based director in its health analytics practice.
