Ankura brings aboard Thomas Emmons as a Managing Director
Washington, DC-based management consultancy Ankura has appointed Thomas Emmons as a Managing Director at its New York office. Emmons, a seasoned IT professional with experience on both the consulting and client side information technology, will serve as interim CIO.
Ankura has made a number of high-level additions and promotions in the last couple of months. The management consultancy – which supports clients in the areas of risk, compliance, governance, investigations, forensics, turnaround, and technology, among others – recently made appointments to the positions of chief financial officer, chief people officer, and chief information security officer.
The firm has now added Thomas Emmons, an experienced IT consultant, to their New York office as a Managing Director. Emmons has more than a decade of experience supporting and leading IT organizations through transformational periods. His areas of expertise include strategy design and implementation, system consolidation, and IT restructuring. Emmons will serve as interim chief information officer, while also advising in the areas of technology strategy and IT organizational management.
Before joining Ankura, Emmons was CIO at renewable energy giant SunEdison for almost two years, helping the firm reduce IT spending by more than $25 million. He also helped the firm divest nearly $1 billion in IT network assets.
Prior to that, Emmons worked at St. Louis-based management consultancy Daugherty Business Solutions from 2009-2016, rising to the position on Senior Principal. While there, he led engagements with high-profile clients, managing teams of more than 100 consultants. Before Daugherty, he worked in project management at IntraISP Software Solutions and Clearwire.
"We are excited to have Thom and his in-depth IT expertise join Ankura as we continue to expand and deepen our client offerings," said Ankura Co-President Kevin Lavin. "As a trusted advisor to Fortune 500 companies over the past decade, Thom brings impressive experience in managing IT departments in a variety of sectors as they evolve and grow.”
“Adding Thom to our deep bench of multi-disciplinary experts will augment our ability to provide comprehensive advisory services to all our clients across disciplines and issues as they look to achieve their strategic goals and navigate a changing technology landscape."
Emmons will look to leverage his skills in IT strategy in an increasingly digitalized business environment, commenting that “information services and technology are at the core of growth and productivity.” He added, “I am excited to work alongside the talented individuals at Ankura to develop tailored solutions for the IT challenges impacting our clients as they undergo transformational change.”
