Bowman Consulting Group acquires Spatial Acuity
Bowman Consulting Group, a Reston, VA-headquartered infrastructure engineering consultancy, has acquired Spatial Acuity, an Austin-based 3D modeling and reality capture firm.
Founded in 2015, Spatial Acuity provides high-definition scanning and 3D building information modeling (BIM) to owners, developers, and operators of private and public infrastructure. The firm uses advanced geomatics equipment to deliver interactive, 3D digital models that enable digital twins.
Spatial Acuity’s offerings span 3D laser scanning, drone intelligence, and 2D and 3D BIM as-builts. The firm has worked on commercial, residential, and institutional building projects across the country.
Spatial Acuity has 10 employees, according to LinkedIn.
Bowman’s acquisition of Spatial Acuity will bolster the firm’s survey/geospatial capability, which provides services across 3D laser scanning, drone-enabled data collection, subsurface utility engineering, and GIS mapping.
Garett Owens, founder and CTO of Spatial Acuity, will join Bowman as head of the specialty geomatics and reality capture services group.
“The Spatial Acuity team has set themselves apart by capturing facility data with unmatched precision and delivering project results with a level of sophistication that is rare in the field,” said Gary Bowman, CEO of Bowman. “Garett and his team will both complement and extend our platform, resulting in enhanced efficiencies and substantial cross-selling opportunities.”
Bowman, which is listed on the Nasdaq, expects the acquisition to initially contribute approximately $2.5 million of annualized net service billing.
“Reality capture is an exciting field with unlimited growth potential. By partnering with Bowman, we can expand at a pace we otherwise would not have been able to achieve,” Owens said. “Bowman embraces advanced technologies and together we will be an industry leading player in the digital transformation of design, construction, and asset management within the built environment.”
Bowman has over 1,700 employees and more than 65 offices throughout the United States. The firm provides services in planning, engineering, construction management, commissioning, environmental consulting, geomatics, survey, and land procurement for the built environment.
Bowman earlier this year acquired Anchor Consultants, a Chadds Ford, PA-based marine engineering consultancy.
