SGS Maine Pointe partners with data firm RailState
SGS Maine Pointe, a supply chain and operations consultancy, has partnered with RailState, a Boston-based startup focusing on real-time measurement of rail capacity and performance in North America.
Founded in 2019, RailState uses an AI-driven sensor network to deliver real-time visibility into freight network conditions, performance, priority, and volume.
SGS Maine Pointe will integrate RailState data into its Total Value Optimization (TVO) platform to help clients drive visibility into their supply chains, make better decisions, and realize ROI. Shippers will be able to view rail network conditions including real-time current velocity, train volume and mix, and priority, as well as commodity data on shipment quantity, location, and where flow could be disrupted.
John Schmitter, CCO of RailState, said, “Rail is and always will be an essential component of the supply chain. We are excited to be partnering with SGS Maine Pointe to provide this enhanced level of rail visibility to SGS Maine Pointe clients.”
SGS Maine Pointe’s TVO platform helps clients make the best choices for shipping across modes, delivering end-to-end supply chain visibility with a modern, digital system of analytics, organizational improvement, and sales and operational planning.
“Rail is an integral part of our TVO end-to-end supply chain and operations services,” said Nathanael Powrie, managing director, data analytics at SGS Maine Pointe. “This partnership harmonizes our decades of rail experience with the desire to offer our clients ways to strengthen real-time visibility and mitigate risk to the supply chain.”
Headquartered in Boston, SGS Maine Pointe advises on supply chain optimization and risk management, operational excellence, data analytics, and mergers and acquisitions, among other areas. The firm has more than 200 people across offices in the US, Canada, UK, Switzerland, and China.
