Cassie Prugh joins Manatt as government and regulatory partner
Cassie Prugh has joined Manatt, a law and consulting firm, as a government and regulatory partner based in Albany, NY.
Prugh brings nearly 20 years of experience in the New York State legislative, regulatory, and political arena to Manatt’s government relations team – which focuses on lobbying programs for clients across industries.
“Manatt has deep roots in public policy and governmental affairs, and our continued work on behalf of clients across our core industries paired with our insight into the key political markets – including Albany, Boston, Sacramento, and Washington, D.C. – help shape meaningful change for our clients and the communities in which we operate,” said Donna Wilson, CEO and managing partner of Manatt.
Prugh has extensive legal, regulatory, and legislative expertise at the state local levels. Her New York-focused practice at Manatt will advise on policy areas related to labor, healthcare, government procurement, higher education, K-12 education, and nonprofits, as well as provide tailored government affairs strategies.
“Cassie is well-known for her skill in navigating New York’s often challenging legislative, regulatory and political arenas, and she will provide unmatched strategic and political insights, advice and efforts for our clients in the complex environment that is Albany,” said James Walsh, partner in Manatt’s government and regulatory group and head of the Albany office.
With experience as a policymaker and advocate, Prugh has a thorough understanding of policies affecting businesses and regulated entities and trusted relationships with local, legislative, and state elected officials.
She most recently spent seven years at the United Federation of Teacher, where she was assistant to the president. Before that, Prugh spent a year at Mercury Public Affairs, where she was an SVP.
Before that, Prugh was director of regional affairs for Gov. Andrew Cuomo, having previously served as deputy campaign manager for Cuomo’s successful 2010 campaign.
Earlier in her career, Prugh was director of legislative affairs at the New York State Executive Chamber. She began her career at New York State United Teachers, where she was a law clerk and a legislative representative.
Prugh has a law degree from Albany Law School and a bachelor’s degree from The College of Saint Rose.
“Over the years, I have had the opportunity to work alongside Manatt’s professionals who have quickly and effectively responded to the state’s legislative and regulatory developments,” Prugh said. “I’m looking forward to working with this talented team to address the challenges facing its many clients in today’s complex marketplace.”
