Christopher Philips joins LCG Associates as head of ICIO practice
Christopher Philips has joined LCG Associates, a national investment consulting firm, as SVP and leader of the outsourced chief investment officer (OCIO) practice.
In the newly created role Philips will implement OCIO best practices, expand business development, and conduct capital market and asset class research, investment manager due diligence, and special studies.
"Christopher's wealth of experience in the OCIO marketplace and his alignment with LCG's client-service focus are two of the reasons we are so delighted to welcome him to LCG's leadership team. We are confident Christopher will provide an innovative approach to leading our OCIO efforts by building on the existing foundation we've created to meet our current OCIO clients' goals over the last eleven years," said Edward Johnson, president and CEO of LCG Associates.
Philips previously spent 22 years at investment management firm Vanguard, most recently serving as head of the OCIO practice. In the role, he oversaw a team of 140 professionals in investment policy design and consulting; portfolio construction advice; asset allocation modeling; and ongoing investment management to endowment, foundation, and defined benefit clients.
Before that, he was regional head of institutional asset management, leading a team of investment-only relationship managers focusing on defined benefit, defined contribution, nonprofit, and corporate assets. Earlier in his career, Philips was a strategist in Vanguard’s investment strategy group.
He has a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Franklin & Marshall College and is a chartered financial analyst.
LCG recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Initially founded to advise on defined benefits, the Atlanta-headquartered firm today provides consulting and research to foundations, endowments, corporations, nonprofits, and private investors.
LCG’s offerings span alternative investments, asset/liability analysis, ESG, investment policy development, OCIO services, performance reporting, and vendor search.
The firm has 36 professionals across offices in Atlanta, Dallas, and Seattle.
