Bill McManus and Alex Arata, formerly consultants at Point B, have joined Grant Thornton’s private equity practice as leaders of the value creation planning services offering.

As the cost of capital remains high and economic storm clouds gather, private equity firms are under more pressure to create value in ways outside of market expansion and revenue growth. This includes supply chain efficiencies, pricing, customer experience, and digital and finance transformation.

“In today’s fast-paced environment, private equity firms and their portfolio companies have numerous levers to pull to accelerate value creation, and it’s vital they prioritize these initiatives and align all parts of the organization around the highest value drivers,” said Greg Westfall, who was recently appointed leader of Grant Thornton’s private equity practice. “Bill and Alex will further establish Grant Thornton as a premier provider of professional services in the private equity space, delivering our clients with the high-quality value creation planning that is becoming increasingly critical.”

Based in Santa Fe, McManus joins Grant Thornton as a managing director in the strategy and transactions practice. He has more than 30 years of experience in private equity and management consulting, with expertise in enterprise value creation, risk management, corporate culture, and growth strategy.

Arata joins as a business development executive in the strategy and transactions practice. Based in Boston, Arata brings more than 20 years of experience providing strategic leadership and driving revenue growth for established and early-stage enterprises, with expertise developing new business strategies, cultivating client relationships, and managing teams toward growth.

He spent the last four years at Point B, where he was private equity director and founding member of the PE services team. Earlier in his career, Arata was a manager at Accenture Interactive (now Accenture Song). Before that, he held research leadership roles at commercial real estate firms CBRE and Cushman & Wakefield.

Arata has an MBA from Babson College and a bachelor’s degree from Bowdoin College.
