Rahul Ratakonda and William Maloney join HKA's forensic practice
Rahul Ratakonda and William Maloney have joined the US forensic technical services (FTS) practice of HKA, a risk and disputes consulting firm.
Ratakonda joins HKA’s Los Angeles office as a director. He is a structural engineer with more than 15 years of experience evaluating structural performance and investigating failures for insurance claims and litigation matters.
Ratakonda has completed investigations of construction defects, design defects, adjacent construction damage, and structural failures, as well as damage assessments for natural disasters and fires.
He joins HKA from Thornton Tomasetti, where he spent five years and was latterly a VP in the forensic engineering practice for civil and industrial markets. Before that, he spent over 11 years at Exponent Failure Analysis Associates, where he was latterly managing engineer.
Ratakonda has a master’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology. He is a licensed professional engineer.Maloney joins HKA as an associate director, bringing more than 20 years of experience in forensic engineering and project management. He has conducted hundreds of forensic investigations spanning roof inspections, plan and document reviews, and visual inspections of buildings to determine cause and extent of damage.
Maloney previously held forensic engineer roles at Grindley Williams Engineering, US Forensic, and Donan Engineering. He also spent nine years as a consultant drilling engineer, working on oil and gas well projects for clients including Aramco, Esso, and Chevron. Before entering consulting, Maloney served in the US Army.
He has a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Auburn University and is a licensed professional engineer.
