Plante Moran marks 100th anniversary
Plante Moran, a Southfield, MI-headquartered accounting and consulting firm, on Saturday celebrated 100 years in business.
Founded in 1924, the firm has grown from a sole accounting practitioner in Detroit to more than 3,800 global professionals delivering services in audit, tax, consulting, and wealth management.
Plante Moran is the 15th-largest accountancy in the US, according to Inside Public Accounting, with annual revenue of $1.01 billion. The firm has offices in Michigan, Illinois, Ohio, and Colorado, as well international locations in Mexico, India, China, and Japan.
“Plante Moran’s unique culture is rooted in what Elorion Plante and Frank Moran called their ‘grand experiment,’” said Jim Proppe, managing partner. “They envisioned an accounting firm where the best practitioners couldn’t wait to get in the door and clients were lining up to receive unsurpassed service. To achieve this, they built our firm on a solid foundation of principles and values like following the Golden Rule, doing the right thing for the right reasons and putting people and a long-term view before profits. A century later, our firm still operates under these same philosophies.”
To mark its centennial, Plante Moran has launched a campaign entitled “Count on Us,” which highlights the clients and staff that have counted on the firm since its founding. The campaign – which will take place across the firm’s online presence – will share stories of how the firm has served clients and supported one another.
“We’re a people firm,” said Proppe. “And throughout this next year, we’re going to be intentional about celebrating the clients and staff who have made our success possible.”
Plante Moran last year elected Jason Drake as Proppe’s successor. Drake will assume the role of managing partner on July 1.
