Marshall & Stevens buys forensic accountancy Rocky Mountain Advisory
Marshall & Stevens (M&S), a Los Angeles-based financial opinion and valuation advisory firm, has acquired Rocky Mountain Advisory (RMA), a Salt Lake City-based forensic accounting and litigation consulting firm.
Founded in 2010, RMA is a CPA firm that specializes in forensic accounting, bankruptcy and turnaround, dispute analysis, and business valuation. The firm also offers divorce services and expert witness testimony.
The RMA team – which includes certified public accountants, certified fraud examiners, and certified insolvency and restructuring advisors – has specialized experience delivering expert testimony on Ponzi schemes, securities and corporate fraud, distressed company workouts, partnership disputes, and economic damages.
The firm has 11 employees, according to its website.
M&S’ acquisition of RMA will give it a fifth US office location and expand its presence to Utah. The deal will expand its services to include more comprehensive dispute resolution and expert witness consulting, as well as augment its dispute and litigation support practice with new offerings in bankruptcy consulting, investigative accounting, and divorce services.
“Public companies, private enterprises, investors, attorneys, accountants, and insurance companies depend on M&S to provide high-quality, well-researched insights into a wide range of M&A, wealth transfer, and investment transactions. The experts at RMA allow us to provide a broader portfolio of expertise to our clients and the trusted advisors who refer the majority of our work to us,” said Mark Santarsiero, president and CEO of Marshall & Stevens.
Founded in 1932, M&S provides independent valuations, transaction opinions, and dispute resolutions services to business owners, management, boards, investors, and trusted advisors.
The firm has more than 100 employees, according to LinkedIn, and offices in Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Tampa.
“We are pleased to partner with the variety of subject matter and sector experts at Marshall & Stevens to provide a broader portfolio of counsel to our clients as well as enhance our overall body of knowledge,” said Matt Connors, managing director at Rocky Mountain Advisory.
