Ernest Nedder named CEO of RSM International
Ernest “E.J.” Nedder, chief strategy officer of RSM US, has been appointed chief executive officer of RSM International, effective June 1, 2024.
Nedder, who has been at RSM for over 26 years, succeeds longtime RSM International CEO Jean Stephens, who has led the accounting and consulting network for the last 18 years.
Stephens will stay on at RSM for the next three years as a senior advisor assisting on member matters, development and recruitment, and leadership transition.
“I am excited to welcome E.J. as RSM’s new CEO and, based on his leadership experience to date, believe he is perfectly positioned to lead RSM globally from the strength of today to a new high in 2030 and beyond,” Stephens said.
Nedder has served as chief strategy officer of RSM US since January 2023, overseeing the firm’s enterprise strategy and driving digital transformation and an insights-led culture. Before that, he spent four years as national tax leader, growing the business from $600 million to over $1 billion in annual revenue.
Nedder has been a partner in RSM’s tax practice since 2003.
He is currently as member of RSM Canada’s board of directors, and previously served two terms on RSM US’ board, including one term as chairman.
Nedder has a JD from New England Law, Boston, a bachelor’s degree in management from Tulane University, and a CPA designation.
“The RSM CEO Succession Committee engaged in a rigorous selection process and many excellent candidates came forward for consideration. It was E.J.’s exceptional leadership style, energy and clear ability to inspire and bring people with him that made him stand out,” said Joe Adams, chair of the RSM International board.
RSM International has 64,000 professionals across 120+ countries and $9.4 billion in annual revenue. The US member firm is the largest in the network, with $3.71 billion in annual revenue.
“With RSM’s 2030 Global Strategy already in place, I am excited to drive progress towards our stated goals, to work with our fantastic professionals all over the world to harness our global strength, and to lead the next dynamic phase of RSM’s development,” Nedder said.
