Summit Street Group hires John Karner and Nora Johnson

Summit Street Group, a Denver-based infrastructure sector consulting firm, has hired John Karner as a principal and Nora Johnson as an associate and senior economics analyst.

The new hires will bring the boutique firm’s headcount to six professionals and will expand its expertise in finance and economic market analysis.

Karner brings nearly two decades of experience in finance and public policy. He most recently served as director of finance for the City of Greeley, overseeing financial operations and a $400-million budget. Before that, he was a portfolio manager at engineering consultancy Jacobs, director of strategic initiatives at Denver International Airport, and a financial specialist at the City and County of Denver.

Karner began his career as a management consultant at Accenture.

He has a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in economics and political science from Lake Forest College.

Johnson has over a decade of experience in economic and market analysis, with a focus on research and data analysis. She was previously an account strategist at Marketing Design Group and an independent market analyst contractor.

Johnson has a master’s degree in global finance, trade, and economic integration from the University of Denver and a bachelor’s degree in marketing and hotel, restaurant, and tourism management from the same institution.
