IEM International Inc., a Morrisville, NC-headquartered security consulting firm, celebrated its 40th anniversary on February 7, 2025.

IEM was founded in 1985 by Madhu Beriwal, who remains the firm’s chairwoman.

IEM works with government and corporate clients on emergency management, disaster recovery, homeland security, and digital citizen services. The firm supports federal, state, and local agencies and well as international clients, and advises on critical infrastructure such as nuclear plants, chemical plants, hospitals, mass transit, and ports.

IEM has grown to 900+ professionals across seven offices in the US and Puerto Rico.

“As we celebrate 40 years of growth and innovation, I am incredibly proud of the work we've accomplished and the people who have helped us achieve these milestones," said Beriwal. "This anniversary is a testament to the strength of the IEM team and the partnerships we've cultivated over the years."

The firm has advised on numerous high-profile projects in disaster management and homeland security in the last 40 years. Some highlights include providing technical and public affairs support for facilities disposing of US chemical weapons stockpiles; administering over 1.7 million vaccinations across 20 states during the Covid-19 pandemic; and providing ongoing consulting to the Puerto Rican government in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma, Maria, and Fiona to strengthen infrastructure and preparedness.

“For four decades, we have been at the forefront of national and global challenges, and remain dedicated to building a safer, more secure, and resilient world for generations to come," said Bryan Koon, president and CEO of IEM.
